Leadership and Influence: Do You Have the Right Mix for Greater Impact?

There are various leadership theories which are portrayed in differing leadership models and styles.

It is essential to analyze leadership from theory-based models to observe its purview in a variety of sectors. Green (2013) gives the definition of leadership as, “a process used by leaders to give purpose to the collective efforts of members of the organization while influencing them to work collaboratively in an environment of mutual respect and trust” (p. 26).

One of the prominent thought leaders on the topic of leadership is Dr. John Maxwell. Maxwell has reduced the fundamental definition to “Leadership is influence” (Kruse, 2012). Indeed, leadership is just that, influence; however, that influence must be applied in different forms and modalities in each area, specifically education.
