(Note: A FREE Report for you is at the bottom of this BLOG)
Now, I must confess something personal about myself to you…
I am a super-hero junkie! I have been an avid fan of DC Comics for years (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc.) and of recent times, the Marvel franchise.
After just seeing The Avengers: Endgame, I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY! Loved it!
Okay, let me calm down a bit…just breathe, John. Before it leaves the theaters, I will probably watch it 2-3 more times with family and friends.
Now, I won’t be a spoiler; however, the word, “Endgame” has been rolling over and over in my mind.
Now, the definition of the word relates to strategic games, such as Chess or Risk, where there are few pieces left, and the players have a “hidden” plan or strategy to pull out, defeat their opponent, and win the game.
In business, it may be considered a plan (or bulletproof backup plan) to achieve...
"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are" –President Theodore Roosevelt
*By the way, I will continue the 4-part series starting next week about how to have a paradigm shift in your life. (Picking up on Part 3 then) I wanted to write this 2019 New Year blog in between.
Beginning a New Year brings delight to some, but to others, it's just another date on the calendar. One person might love the idea of a fresh start, while another dreads it.
What does it mean to you?
Someone once said, "Life is what you make of it". How do you and I view it? I love sunrises. It's a matter of fact, I am in Florida right now and took pictures and videos of the sunrise on the beach on the East Coast side. Seeing the bright new day symbolizes new beginnings, fresh starts, new days, etc. It's a life mulligan if you will.
Now, I'm writing this blog post with a few major things in mind:
First, I need a fresh start because we JUST experienced a tragedy. Our motorhome...
"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." -Dr. Wayne Dyer, American Self-Help Author & Motivational Speaker
This is part 2 or a 4-part series on becoming and living an exceptional life. As I developed the 4 stages of personal strengths development last week, I will touch on all of them now. I will give special attention to Stage 1 at this time.
I pointed out:
"An individual must become intentional in pursing and assessing their strengths in order to ascend the stages of strengths development. These phases can be worked through to gain mastery. I titled my theory, “The Personal Strengths Ascension Model ©”.
Stage 1-Strengths identification- illumination/assessment
During this stage, a recognition of betterment leads to self-exploration.
Stage 2-Strengths activation- preparation/development
Here, the individual begins their strengths development journey of self-discovery.
Stage 3- Strengths acceleration-...
“We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained.” -Madam Curie, French Physicist, twice winner of the Nobel Prize
What makes an exceptional life? How do you know if you’re living one? I posit that it is when you are daily engaging your strengths doing what you love to do. In the disciplines, or fields of study, of business, psychology, human services, education etc., individuals employing their strengths often, are more productive and satisfied than those who do not engage them.
“Strengths development begins with individuals recognizing and psychologically owning their talents” (Hodges & Harter, 2005)
Here’s a simple formula given by strengths-based researchers (Clifton & Anderson, 2002):
A talent+knowledge+a specific set of skills=a strength
However, raw talent alone does not denote a strength. It must be recognized, developed, and precisely exercised until a...
“If you want small changes in your life, work on your attitude. But, if you want big and primary changes, work on your paradigm.”
–Stephen Covey, author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
What does it take to make a real change in our lives? What leads us to make big shifts in our personal paradigms?
…but how, when, where, and why does it happen?
Now, we have been beautifully and marvelously designed with uniqueness and individuality, and because of that, we innately long to discover our purpose in life. Someone once said, “You are beautiful and unique. A one-of-a-kind. Just like everyone else!”
Because of our intrinsic design and unique idiosyncratic hardwiring, we ask ourselves questions such as:
“What is my calling?”
“What is my purpose in life?”
“What are my gifts and talents, and how can I start using them?”
“How do I know my life’s mission and how will I...
Everyone likes to win, but why do so few believe that they are really winning in life? Could it be that sometimes we see our flaws and foibles so prominently, when we need to see the incredible strengths that we possess?
Another reason I find consulting individuals is the "Mental Money Obstacle". Potential rising star leaders don't tap their own creative ideas or know how to uncover them and bring them to full commercial value.
Money is not your biggest problem; creative ideas and uncommon strategies are your problem.
You need to discover innovative ways to address your situation. Read success stories of those online who have launched new company startups, begun community or global initiatives, or designed breakthrough inventions. It’s called being resourceful. Thinking WAY BEYOND the box, not just outside it.
Paradigm shifts begin with mindset shifts!
It may be approaches such as asking confidently for help from a higher-level leader, breaking down your...
There are various leadership theories which are portrayed in differing leadership models and styles.
It is essential to analyze leadership from theory-based models to observe its purview in a variety of sectors. Green (2013) gives the definition of leadership as, “a process used by leaders to give purpose to the collective efforts of members of the organization while influencing them to work collaboratively in an environment of mutual respect and trust” (p. 26).
One of the prominent thought leaders on the topic of leadership is Dr. John Maxwell. Maxwell has reduced the fundamental definition to “Leadership is influence” (Kruse, 2012). Indeed, leadership is just that, influence; however, that influence must be applied in different forms and modalities in each area, specifically education.
Additionally, Green (2013) also noted that ISLLC standards for leaders in education point to the fact that there are certain qualities that school leaders exhibit (p. 29)....
Psalm 139:14 NLT (New Living Testament) Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it!
Ephesians 2:10 KJV-You are the workmanship of God, created in Christ Jesus for good works, whom God has foreordained that you should walk in them.
In the Greek Text, the word for workmanship is “poema”, the root of our word poem.
Ephesians 2:10 NLT-For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he has planned for us long ago.
Wow, we’re his masterpiece, if you will, a living breathing work of art, his pure poetry in motion! He has already laid out a beautiful life for you, but how do we initiate that master plan and divine design?
When I think of a beautiful master and his masterpieces, I think of Leonardo Di Vinci, the Renaissance Man. Of the many masterpieces and works such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, the one that seem to perfectly depict God’s...
