How to Know YOUR Perfect Career Fit

“Where do I fit best?” Have YOU ever asked that?

This question, along with many others like it, have been asked.

Or…

-Is there a job tailored just for me?

-Where will my gifts and talents be used to their fullest?

-What can I do to find my perfect place where I work?

So, are you where you “perfectly fit”? Many are not, and surprisingly, have worked that way for YEARS!!!

During the mid-twentieth century, researchers like Katherine Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs-Myers, John Holland, and David Keirsey, investigated person-environment fit and person-job fit. (PE fit and career development theories)

Millions of people have taken personality- and career-based assessments created by these theorists. Have you heard of the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator), Holland’s Career Wheel or Holland’s Codes, or the Keirsey Temperament Sorter (KTS-II)?

I highly recommend taking these informative assessments. They will enlighten you about where your personality best fits in different occupations.

Human resources professionals and job recruiters look for correct alignment of personality-to-career fit in their talent acquisition, along with other pertinent qualifications. Career and personality fit was researched by Dr. John Holland for decades and today his theoretical perspective is used by the Department of Labor to assist job seekers in finding the right occupation and career.

So, how does this work for YOU?

Holland created a hexagonal model (wheel) which best matches the individual’s personality to their work environment (For further reading, click on the LINK HERE.)

The codes or themes are realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional.

Holland’s Wheel was created based on empirical research with the idea that you are most satisfied in your work when you chose an occupation that best fits with your personality.
